Betta Bhairaveshwara Prasanna Temple Near Mekanagadde Village

Betta Bhairaveshwara Prasanna Temple is also called “Bettada Bhairaveshwara Temple” in kannada. This place is very well located in Western Ghats of Sakleshpur and borders of South Canara. A varshika Abhisheka will be held once in a year in Jan month where all the people from surrounding places come to take the blessings of Lord Bhairava. Next to Temple we can see the beauty of Western Ghats. There are soo many hills among them is the popular Pandavar Gudda / Pandavar Betta and Jenkal Gudda. These two hills are ultimate sightseeing and trekking spots in the whole surrounding. So this place is gradually becoming more and more popular. Sometimes the locals feel scared of tourists littering wastes in the forest. There is a story told by elders that Pandavas in Mahabharata had stayed during Vanavasa. We can see some beliefs through big grinding stones etc.

There are so many other heritage sites with 5 Kms of air distance and that too of same god Bhairaveshwara, namely Nanya Bhairaveshwara Temple Gudda Bhairaveshwara Temple and many others. I stayed at Mekanagadde Homestay for one day one night and covered Shishila Betta / Shishila Gudda, Pandavar Gudda. Next planning to trek Jenkal Gudda ( No 1 peak in Hassan district and one of the top peaks in Karnataka)
