Forgotten Heritage and Human-Induced Impacts in Mansourah City, Egypt

On Friday January 13, 2017, I traveled to Mansourah city in order to discover the forgotten Egyptian heritage.

According to the direct observation analysis and UNESCO world heritage nomination criteria, Mansourah city has high significant cultural, aesthetics, and historical values and a richhistory that embodies in Mansourah tangible heritage. Unfortunately, there are high human-induced impacts on some buildings such asel-Mahalawy Pasha Palace.

Unfortunately, due to the modern negative attitude towards thecultural heritage buildings and high economic pressures, the owners of this palace deliberately burnt it in order to sell its land to a fewinvestors.

This palace is available for sale. It is distinguished by it unique Gothicstructure. It needs a rapid risk management and architectural conservation plan.

There are other heritage buildings that date backto the Khedive period, but it is accommodated by governmental and security entities.

Therefore, as a heritage lover, I appeal heritage guardians to safeguard thisforgotten heritage in Mansourah city, Egypt.
