After spending the day in Delhi and freshening up at my friends place, I took the night train from Delhi to Kalka. This train would reach Kalka early in the morning and right in time for the Sivalik Deluxe Express from Kalka to Shimla. Anyone wanting to experience the toy train in Shimla should take this one as it goes non-stop and they also provide food onboard.

Firstly I am crazy abou trains. Just the feel of standing next to the door and watching the beautiful vast lands and with the wind blowing against your hair and the sound of the tracks. I would never ask for more. Now added to that the joy of a toy train in the hills of Shimla … is one of the best train rides.

This train stops at a station named Barog to transfer the food. The same station also has accommodation and anyone who loves trains as much as I do, should definitely try and stay here. You have the view of the hills, no noise from the outside world and the railway track right ouside your room. It may not sounds great, but when you do get there, you will definitely think of hopping off the train and staying there 🙂

Finally on reaching Shimla, I left all my luggage in the cloak room and away I went to explore this beautiful and clean city. I had nothing to do in Shimla, so I would just walk around every road and buy a different fruit from every fruit vendor on my way. Life ust felt calm and peaceful here. I was in a mood for some good food, but could not find anything great around mall road, so I headed to one of the oberoi hotels there. The food was good and the staff were extremely friendly. The pit stop there helped me recharge my phone and again freshen up so that I could now catch my evening train back to Kalka and then to Rishikesh.
