A beautiful day ended with a beautiful visit, when I visited the much talked, Humayun tomb. An another yet unique monument built for the sake of love. Built by bega begum for her lost love, humayun. After the death of her beloved husband, begum fell into depression and the sole purpose of her life became, to build the mausoleum. Surrounded by char bagh garden, the beautiful mausoleum is at present reserved and protected by Delhi government. It’s resemblance to the famous, Taj Mahal has created amazements where this mausoleum was an inspiration for the Taj Mahal. The Delhi government still builts and repairs the broken and colorless structures to preserve this heritage site which seems to be going away with time. This site has become the source of amazement for the people all over the world. The building is a unique combination of white and red sandstone which quite popular in rajasthani architecture. It is surrounded by 7 more mosques and tombs of rulers of that empire. It is the first garden tomb on the Indian subcontinent. It was declared to be the UNESCO world heritage site by 1993.
