Mahabalipuram Shore Temple
Mahabalipuram shore temple one of the magnificient heritage site. It includes of seven temples but at present only one is left out due to natural disasters.
It was built during Pallavan dyansty period and stand strong still. It has the name shore temple because it was built near the shore side and also known as seven pagodas because it includes seven temples around it.the place around the temple is well maintained and preserved by the heritage department. The temple here is dedicated to Lord Siva and the temple consists of two gopuram which are about 50 to 60 feet hight form ground. This temple is a great example for Dravidian architecture which consist of gopurams, garabhagrahas (dark house or womb chamber), mandabas, tank and many more. Its is a nice place to visit who are interested about heritage and ancient history. This temple also carries lot of history with it. Since its located next to the sea, lots of tourist are also attracted. The way towards the beach is full of small shops which sells sea shells and many thing related to sea which are attractive to everyone.
To all, the magnificient view of a temple surrounded by water cannot be explained by words. Now in recent times for more tourist attraction shell museum was also opened.
It was a great experience to had while visting this temple and new experience.
