A Stately Home with Capability Brown Landscape Garden
Finally got around to visiting Blenheim Palace today! The palace itself is fantastic- beautiful honey coloured stone and extravagant interiors (although I always find these things a bit gaudy!). I loved the gardens though! The water terrace is fabulous – I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. It’s like a parterre but with ponds rather than planting! The Capability Brown landscaped gardens are huge, and give great views back towards the palace. In amongst the trees are more recent gardens, including ‘the secret garden’ and a circular rose garden. Both absolutely lovely.
