Valley of Temples (Agrigento)
One of Sicily’s most famous historical attractions is, without a doubt, the Valley of the Temples, just outside my hometown, Agrigento. The city, supposedly founded in 582 BC, had different dominations that have left their culture, language, color, lifestyle, art. But without a doubt, to me and the people of Agrigento, the best site of the town is the Valley of the Temples. Sometimes, I think that the people of Agrigento, and me too, forget how is pleasant, enjoyable, nice, agreeable spend some hours in the Valley. Today, I‘ve visited the Valley, the same Valley that I see every days when I drive the car, but I tried to visit it with the eyes of the turists, just to feel amazement, stupor and surprise . . . and it wasn’t really difficult . . .
With comfort sneakers, water and a map, I‘ve visited and walked all evening and still I would stay longer in the valley! I’ve discovered one treasure right in my hometown that it’s not hidden, it has always been there: a wonderful piece of history on top of a ill….. Spectacular!!! Beyond the cultural importance, archeological richness ass few places in the world.
It’s also an astonishing landscape….. one hill where diverse Greek temples take on the ground with one side facing the endless sea and the other facing the city in a far off glance!!!!
I am back home with my jaw dropped because of this amazing treasure
