The Hidden Jewel of London: St. Dunstan

Thinking of London, one imagines the huge modern city, with brand new skyscrapers, tonnes of cool stores, black cabs and red buses. �But there is more to London. There are some places which still preserve London’s rich history and cultural legacy. There are many unknown cultural and historical sites throughout London.

Walking through London, it is possible to find some of these unknown old places. For example, there is one idyllic place where for a moment you can escape the City to find yourself in a fairy tale. This is the St. Dunstan Church.

Once a Medieval church, St Dunstan Church today, is a public garden.

When you walk in, you feel like you are entering in a fairy tale movie for the plants and flowers woven around these ancient and beautiful walls Gothic style make for a pretty frame.

What makes it more beautiful, is the story hidden behind these ruins that decorate this gorgeous garden; damaged by the Great Fire of London first and devastated by a bomb blast in World War II after. The City of London gave�life to these ruins again, by deciding to not rebuild the Church, but to keep the ruins as they were by opening it as a public garden.

During weekdays, the garden is filled with�people working in the City for lunch breaks. On weekends, it is �still quieter.

There are some tour guides that include St. Dunstan in their itinerary, tracing its�history and culture.

This can be one of the best�ways to promote the garden. The space can also be hired for events, so that people are aware of these beautiful unknown heritage sites that strive to shine in their own city.
