Mount Mary Church is a Roman Catholic Church, dedicated to ‘Virgin Mary’, situated in ‘Mt. Mary’s Road, Near Bandstand, Bandra West, Mumbai’
This ancient church, built in 1640 and then rebuilt in 1761, is also known as ‘The Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount’ it is sited on top of a hill known as ‘Sunderban Bandra’, which overlooks the mighty Arabian Sea which makes this church more attractive & beautiful.
I visited this beautiful place with my few friends of my college, they were very much more interested to visit the church so we bunk college and reached here!
We truly enjoyed this place because its very peaceful. If you are being stressed up then if you are nearby this church then visit this church you will definitely find the peace inside you, its my personal experience.
It is believed that the church have unbelievable healing powers because of this reason church is always full of devotees everyday.Some also say that those who sincerely pray at the Mount Mary Church their wishes fulfilled.
Things which we can do:-
- People who suffer from any disease bring wax figures depicting their illnesses to the Mount Mary Church in the hope that they would be cured. For example, a person with a broken leg will bring a wax figure of a leg.
- You can shop for religious artefacts, innovatively shaped candles, wax figures of Virgin Mary or even buy Goan sweets from the various stalls outside the church.
- You can visit mount mary feasts in the month of September.
- You can also visit ‘Father Agnel’ is another church sited on Carter Road, close to Mount Mary Church.
