Sahapedia and GoUNESCO have joined hands under an exciting project – Museums of India and you get to be a part of it!
The Museums of India project is designed to bring together museums, heritage and communities to create a participatory eco-system of museum exploration, enrichment and education. The attempt is to both create sustainable community engagements that allow people to contribute to museum experiences as well as participate in them, and to create a dynamic digital platform – the Museum Mapping Project. This digital platform aims to trace and create an all-inclusive resource of all the museums of India, where audiences can view consolidated information about museums, as well as interact with museum professionals.
Since its inception in May 2017, Sahapedia has documented 300+ museums in 34 cities on its web portal – http://www.museumsofindia.org
Join us on a journey as a Museum Mapper where you will be chronicling and collecting information on all the museums in your city! With a goal to collect information on as many museums through the month of June, we invite you to volunteer with us and help raise awareness about museums. Parallel to this task, you also get the opportunity to make museums more interactive by contributing activity-oriented ideas (experiences) for these museums.
In addition to this, as a Museum Mapper, you can collect the following rewards –
- An appreciation certificate for successfully mapping museums from Sahapedia and GoUNESCO.
- A mention on the Museums of India website.
- A paid opportunity to write for the Museums of India writer’s corner – for volunteers above a quality bar.
- An opportunity to host paid museum experiences – for volunteers above a quality bar.
We welcome everyone to sign up. Since this project pertains to Indian museums, we will be accepting applications from those residing in India only. The criteria required for this role is your passion for heritage and museums. Your perseverance to document museums is essential. Join us and help out in building the biggest repository of museums in India!
