Valley of Flowers National Park
is located in Uttarakhand(Uttaranchal) state. The gentle landscape of the Valley of Flowers National Park complements the rugged mountain wilderness of Nanda Devi National Park to the east. This Reserve is in the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves since 2004. The valley is usually open from June to early October. Nearest town is Joshimath, which is accessible by road from Haridwar. The 17km trek to VOF begins from Govind Ghat (which is about an hour away from Joshimath). After 14km trek one reaches Ghangaria and can camp/stay at hotels. Futher there is a 3km trek to reach VOF and one can trek inside the valley till allowed time. The gate opens at 6am and closes at 2pm.
