I will write a brief review of the article of my fellow Intern Shawntell Hammonds.
Her article, in a spontaneous way tell us the passion and the work behind the Academy founded by Nena Gilreath and Waverly T. Lucas II in 1990 in Atlanta. Its purpose is to create a way to express ourselves in a healthy way, having fun and at the same time teaching formative principles to students. Personally I was interested to read the background of the founders and main dancers, because I think most of times it’s helpful to figure out why something started.

Inside the Academy do exists two groups; The first one is The Ballethnic Dance Company, which provides a classical training to children and adults. The second one is The Ballethnic Academy of Dance, the official school, where a wide range of techniques meet up to create something brand new, as it includes Ballet, Pointe, Pre-Pointe, Pas De Deux, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, African, and Ballethnicize.
The good work of the school is witnessed by a CNN reportage, the performance of 20 original ballets, a Summer Dance Camps and workshops. Some posts submitted in the social networks can be interesting, like some historical facts and figures of dance history, backstage photos as well as nowadays articles. But even more interesting are the photos on their official website and their videos avaiable on Youtube, where is possible to see the company in action on performance like “The Urban Nutcracker”, “The Leopard Tale” and many others.
A successful reality, as far as I can see!
