A journey of a 1000 miles begins with a single step. However, GoUNESCO started with a tweet and a photograph. Back in 2012, Ajay (founder and first-challenger) came across this tweet and could not identify half of the Heritgae Sites on the picture. So, he started the Challenge for himself – to visit all the WHS in India in a calendar year and make that his story for 2012 – something to remember that year by.
Along the way, folks from all walks of life and from different parts of India joined – for their own reasons. Some joined to learn & appreciate the heritage of their country, some joined because it was a ready-made travel plan and some joined for the pure pleasures of travel.
In 2013, the GoUNESCO Challenge went global – there was no reason why it should be restricted just to India. It continues being global and all you have to do to get started is signup at – http://gounesco.com/start.
