5 Traveler Snacks

While we are big on encouraging people to try the cuisine of the place they go to, we also know that it is always not possible – probably because you could be trekking in the Himalayas, or might be bored of the local cuisine, or you are vegetarian, or that you just want a taste of home. So, keeping this in mind, we have listed a few traveler snacks you could pack with you in your backpack. Our primary motivations for picking these – should be able to fill the tummy, must be a source of instant energy and should not occupy much space!

1.�Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is not only filling and healthy but is easy to carry and can be easily stored in any weather. Packed with nutrition, it provides you antioxidants, vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates. You can make it at home and take it with you or just take a store-bought jar. Trust us when we say, it will take you a LONG way!

�2.�Granola Bar or Chikki

What�s not to like in a bar of nuts smeared in some honey or jaggery? Granola bars, or its Indian cousin, the chikki are great sources of proteins, fiber, fats and sugar. They provide instant energy and we believe, are almost as important to be carried in your backpack as an extra pair of socks! Light weight, easy to carry and inexpensive � what more do you want?

3.�Cookies or Biscuits

Cookies or biscuits are excellent sources of glucose. There are readily available in most parts of the world and you can carry them in the sealed packages they come in. Also, if you are in India � how can you not trust Parle-G while you are traveling?

�4.�Muffins or Tea Bread

Homemade muffins or bread is excellent for travel. They stay soft, taste good and you have control over the amount of sweetness in them. And depending on what you make them with, you can pack some good proteins, carbs and probably some vitamins too in them. Have you ever tried some banana muffins or carrot muffins for the road?

5. Powdered Glucose

While travelling, it�s very important to keep yourself hydrated. Glucose supplements are now available in small packets. It�s easy to carry and easy to store. Mix the Glucose powder into the water and consume when required. Glucose water provides instant energy as it digests gets into your blood stream quickly.
